Who We Are & What We Do

The Erosion and Sediment Control Association of British Columbia is a non-profit organization founded in 2011. We are dedicated to increase the level of expertise in the Erosion & Sediment Control field throughout British Columbia. We work to raise awareness of the Federal, Provincial, and Municipal regulations and bylaws, and to promote best practices throughout the industry.

At the detailed design stage it is the minimizing of impacts through efficient earthworks and erosion and sediment control measures. It is vital that development be successfully completed in balance with the natural environment.

Why We Do It

Erosion and Sediment Control is a rapidly changing field. Traditional approaches have been applied with varying levels of success over the years. In addition, there are a host of new approaches, practices, and proprietary products that we believe should be shared, understood, and considered on your sites. Sites can be sustainably managed by considering the appropriate selection and utilization of infrastructure solutions and minimizing of impacts through efficient earthworks and erosion and sediment control measures.

How We Do It

We work in concert with organizations like the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association, and educators like Vancouver Island University's Natural Resource Extension Program. We build upon our annual ESC Metro Vancouver Conference to raise the level of expertise and experience for designers, contract administrators, regulators, contractors, site supervisors, inspectors, and monitors.

Mission Statement:To raise the level of expertise in the Erosion & Sediment Control field throughout British Columbia, while increasing awareness of the Federal, Provincial, and Municipal regulations and bylaws, and promoting best practices throughout the industry.

Vision Statement:

To be the voice of Erosion and Sediment Control in British Columbia and to protect the natural environment by mitigating the impact of development on sediment and erosion control measures and for development to be completed in balance with the natural environment.
